Graduate Admission Transcript Information

when submitting your university application:

When applying for admission to WOU’s graduate programs, students must provide unofficial transcripts and/or academic records from all non-WOU institutions attended. WOU reserves the right to request official transcripts at any time during the application process.

Evidence of completion of a four-year baccalaureate degree (or international equivalent) from regionally accredited institution as defined by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars, with a cumulative B average (equivalent 3.00 on a U.S. 4.00 grading scale) on the most recent baccalaureate degree. If the applicant’s cumulative GPA is below 3.00, but a calculation using the last 90 quarter credits (60 semester credits) of graded course work is 3.0 or higher, the latter will be used as the basis for admission. Applicants who hold a master’s degree will have the 3.0 GPA requirement waived.

GPA requirement: Students with less than 3.0 can also provide passing MAT/GRE scores to be fully admitted. A student who has an undergraduate GPA of 2.50 to 2.99 can be admitted conditionally for the first 9 credit hours. Applicants will be prompted to complete an online petition for conditional admission during their application process. *Conditionally admitted students will not be able to receive financial aid until they become fully admitted students and a program plan is on file.

Students who receive an offer of admission will be required to submit official transcripts from non-WOU institutions where they have received degrees as a final verification. Enrollment in courses is contingent upon the receipt and verification of these official documents.

when offered admission to a graduate program:

After receiving an offer of admission, you will be required to submit official copies of your transcripts for GPA and degree conferral verification. Enrollment in courses is contingent upon the receipt and verification of these official documents. Official transcripts should be sent to WOU by mail or official electronic submission directly from each non-WOU college or university where a degree was conferred. The official transcript will be compared to the unofficial documents you provided with your application. If there is a discrepancy between the unofficial and the official transcript(s) or it is determined upon final GPA and degree conferral verification that the minimum admissions requirements were not met, your offer of admission may be rescinded.

If you are currently enrolled in courses but will not complete the degree until a future semester, wait to send an updated transcript until the degree is awarded. After it has been awarded, send an updated transcript and the degree confirmation.

Transcripts sent electronically are accepted if they arrive from the registrar using the institution’s secured electronic submission system (such as eScript, Parchment, EDI).
